Sometimes we all need a reminder that we are connected. What I do impacts those around me. The things you say can bring hope to everyone nearby. To illustrate this point in worship last week, I brought a ball of yarn into our space. We passed the yarn from person to person pulling it out from the skein until everyone was holding a portion of the yarn. (How you move the yarn around can vary based on your group. I did not think my congregation was up for tossing yarn on Sunday).
Once everyone is connected, talk about this Scripture. Those gathered here are the body of Christ. Each and every part (person) is needed and no one is more important than another. If one of us moves too quickly, we might all fall down because we are connected. If someone decides to take a different path, we are all going there because we are connected. When someone is hurt, we all hurt. When one of us has joy, we share that together!
Engage the congregation in conversation about times they felt connected and times they felt disconnected. How can we keep this feeling of connection when we are no longer holding the yarn? How can we invite someone new to hold onto the yarn with us?
Loving God, It is a joy and a challenge to be connected to each other. Remind us we do not go through life alone because we are part of your body and we are all important and connected. In those times when the connection feels weaker, give us the courage to ask for what we need. When the church is moving in new directions, give us the strength to trust you. Thank you for connecting us today and everyday, Holy One. Amen

Very nice. Thank you.
